Where is Malta located?
Malta belongs to one of the smallest countries in Europe. That is why it is not surprising that many people do not exactly know where it is located. But before you are going to do your internship, you surely want to know everything about this beautiful country.
Location of Malta
Malta is a small island that lies in the Mediterranean sea, just beneath Sicily (Italy). What many people do not know, is that the republic of Malta is bigger than only Malta itself. The republic consists of the islands of Malta, Gozo and Comino. From these islands, Malta is the biggest and highest populated. The number of residents lies around 495.000 people, Gozo has 30.000 residents and there are only three residents on Comino.
Size of Malta
Malta is the biggest country of the archipelago, but how big is that? To give you an indication; malta is about two times as big as the Dutch island Texel.
The advantage of this is that you do not have to travel that far to go somewhere. Malta has several cosy cities with shops, supermarkets, restaurants and pubs which all lies on walking distance from each other.
